Camping season 2021
Camping season opens 1 April 2021, with online booking available from 9am, Monday 1 March 2021.
ForestrySA offers bush camping at Kuitpo and Mount Crawford in designated campgrounds only.
Please note – a maximum of 10 people per campsite. Not all campsites are suitable for caravans or camper trailers and may be limited to less than three vehicles. Please consider this when selecting your campsite.
The forest is closed to the public on days of Total Fire Ban. Please check the CFS website before your visit, for current fire bans and ratings.
Welcome to Chalk’s Campground
ForestrySA manages a number of designated campgrounds and accommodation facilities in the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Chalk’s Campground is set among beautiful redgums and named after one of Mount Crawford’s first foresters.
Forest visitors wishing to use a campsite for day visits are required to book and pay for their site online prior to arrival.
Use of fire pits within picnic areas remains free of charge and available on a first-in, first-served basis.
Camping is permitted from 1 April to 30 November annually, outside of the fire danger season.

Wood fires are permitted from 1 May – 31 October annually. (These dates may change in seasons where high fire danger persists).

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land and Forest Reserves between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).
