Weddings

Organise a forest wedding ceremony

Select areas of ForestrySA’s beautiful forest estate are now available for wedding ceremonies.

Ceremonies can be booked in select forest areas from 1 April to 30 November annually, outside of the annual Fire Danger Season. Unfortunately, wedding receptions are not permitted.

As the South Australian Government’s forest manager, ForestrySA has strict guidelines for the management of all forest events. Wedding planners must lodge an application form, with information and location map for consideration, well ahead of the big day.

Scroll down to complete and lodge your application for assessment and approval by our Forest Ranger.

Hiring a professional photographer or videographer?

A permit is required before undertaking commercial film or photography on ForestrySA land.

Please ensure your photographer or videographer has purchased a permit before heading out into the forest on your special day.

Click here for more information and to obtain a permit.

The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.

For fire ban information phone 1800 362 361 or visit the CFS website. Being aware of a Total Fire Ban is your responsibility.

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).

Forest closures and operations

Planning your day in a working forest environment

While ForestrySA encourages members of the public to enjoy the forest environment, our planation forests are working, commercial forests.

Forest maintenance and other operations are conducted at various times throughout the year. All wedding applications will be considered in line with these activities.

In the interest of public safety, all ForestrySA Reserves are closed on days of Total Fire Ban as declared by the Country Fire Service. Unfortunately this does mean your forest ceremony will be cancelled. Please keep this in mind when planning your day. Ensuring an alternative plan is in place is a requirement of the application approval process.
