Forest campgrounds open!
The ForestrySA camping season is now open, allowing overnight stays at our three designated campgrounds in the Mount Lofty Ranges – Kuitpo Forest’s Chookarloo and Mount Crawford’s Chalks and Rocky Paddock Campgrounds.
Online bookings and payment is now available and mandatory for all campgrounds via the button below.
Campers will be able to view campground maps, check campsite availability and secure a spot in advance.
Paper-copy camping permits will no longer need to be displayed on vehicles.
Forest visitors wishing to use a campsite for day visits will also be required to book and pay for their site online prior to arrival.
Use of fire pits within picnic areas will remain free of charge and available on a first-in, first-served basis.
ForestrySA manages a range of private hut, cottage and camp shelter accommodation venues within its Mount Lofty Ranges forests.
All venues are located within the picturesque bush setting of the Kuitpo and Mount Crawford Forest Reserves – the ideal spot to soak up the great outdoors.
All venues are available to book from 1 April – 30 November, outside of the fire danger season. *Please note the 2020 accommodation season has been delayed until further notice, in response to COVID-19.
Wood fires are permitted from 1 May – 31 October annually. (These dates may change in seasons where high fire danger persists).

The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.
Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land and Forest Reserves between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).
