Sustainable forest management

ForestrySA is strongly committed to the economic, environmental and social aspects of sustainable forest practice as set out in its Policy for Sustainable Forest Management.

Responsible Wood (AS/NZS 4708:2021) certification

ForestrySA manages plantation land and Native Forest Reserves in the Mount Lofty Ranges and Green Triangle of South Australia for the South Australian Government.

Our integrated Forest Management System covers all processes involved in the management and protection of plantations, native forests and other land use activities.

This system complies with Responsible Wood’s Australian Standard for Sustainable Forest Management (AS/NZS 4708:2021), which requires ForestrySA to meet internationally accepted criteria.

CERTIFICATION CERTIFICATE

Defined Forest Area

The Defined Forest Area managed by ForestrySA on behalf of the South Australian Government comprises Proclaimed Forest Reserve, under the Forestry Act 1950 (SA).

A total of 19,546ha is located in the Mount Lofty Ranges and 12,773ha in the Green Triangle.

Please note: The Mount Lofty Ranges forest area above does not include 744ha of standing commercial planation, which is located on SA Water Land.
