A Limestone Coast man who lost his life in the line of duty more than 60 years ago will be commemorated at the National Memorial Service in Canberra on Friday 14 May 2021.

Maurice Henry Treloar was just 27 years old when he perished alongside seven of his Woods and Forests Department workmates while fighting the deadly Wandilo Forest Fire in 1958.

He is among 12 fire and emergency personnel to be commemorated at today’s service. ForestySA is proud to sponsor his grandson, Mr Ben Treloar, to attend the National Memorial event and receive a medal in honour of his service and sacrifice.
