Sustainable forest management
ForestrySA is strongly committed to the economic, environmental and social aspects of sustainable forest practice as set out in its Policy for Sustainable Forest Management.
Our Forest Management System is certified to the Responsible Wood Sustainable Forest Management Standard AS/NZS 4708:2021. This certification recognises that ForestrySA manages its defined forest area in line with nationally recognised sustainable forest management requirements.
The certification covers ForestrySA’s management and protection of native forests, plantations, conservation areas, recreation areas and other land uses within the certified Defined Forest Area. It also covers the harvesting and delivery of forest products sourced from this area.
More information about Responsible Wood certification is available from the Responsible Wood website.
Defined Forest Area
ForestrySA’s certified Defined Forest Area applies to land under ForestrySA management control in the Mount Lofty Ranges. This area includes land managed for sustainable forestry, conservation, recreation, ecosystem services and other approved land uses.
