Welcome to Rocky Paddock Campground

ForestrySA manages a number of designated campgrounds and accommodation facilities in the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Rocky Paddock Campground has been voted among RAA Magazine’s Top 10 Australian Campgrounds – and for good reason! It offers basic bush camping among old pine plantation and unique rocky outcrops.

Forest visitors wishing to use a campsite for day visits are required to book and pay for their site online prior to arrival.

Use of fire pits within picnic areas remains free of charge and available on a first-in, first-served basis.

Camping is permitted from 1 April to 30 November annually. Fees apply.

Wood fires are permitted from 1 May – 31 October annually. (These dates may change in seasons where high fire danger persists).

The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.

The Kuitpo and Mount Crawford Forests are located within the Mount Lofty Ranges Fire Ban District. For fire ban information phone 1800 362 361 or visit the CFS website. Being aware of a Total Fire Ban is your responsibility.

Fire is prohibited on ForestrySA land between November 1 and April 30 in any year. (These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists).

Before you visit - about Rocky Paddock

Rocky Paddock Campground is set within a pleasant mature pine plantation backdrop. Camping and public use of the site is managed to ensure the continued, sustainable health of the forest and enjoyment to users. Please enjoy the site within the guidelines to promote a healthy future for our forest.

Bookings and fees

  • All bookings must be made online. Click here to book.
  • Campsite bookings are charged per vehicle (not per person). Fees and Charges | ForestrySA
  • A maximum of 3 vehicles are permitted per campsite. Please note that some sites are limited to 1 or 2 vehicles – please check individual site details when making your booking
  • A maximum number of 10 people are permitted per campsite
  • Day visitors using a campsite must book and pay online, as for overnight camping

Arrival and departure

Overnight bookings: Arrive after 12pm, depart before 11am.
*A late departure requires the booking and purchase of an extra night.

Rocky Paddock Campground is located in the Mount Crawford Forest, a short drive from the Mount Crawford Forest Information Centre on Warren Road.
