ForestrySA – Accommodation, Huts and Campgrounds

Standard Terms and Conditions

By making a booking, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions, all posted signage, and any lawful directions from ForestrySA staff and Rangers. Any Breaches may result in immediate termination of your booking/permit and may attract a fine.

1 – Bookings, Permits and Occupancy

  • All bookings must be processed via the ForestrySA website (forestrysa.com.au)
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking, unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase.
  • Bookings for all facilities close 48 hours before the date
  • A copy of your booking confirmation/permit must be readily available if requested by a ForestrySA Ranger. We recommend taking a screenshot of your permit, as reception at the campgrounds can be unreliable.
  • Full payment is required prior to arrival.
  • Early arrivals or late departures, outside the designated check in/out times documented in Appendix 1, may incur a charge of an extra night
  • Any vehicle or personal property abandoned or left unattended for more than 24 hours may be seized and impounded.
  • Bookings apply only to the specific facility/site and any exclusive-use area described at the time of booking.
  • Maximum occupancy, length-of-stay limits, and check-in/check-out times vary by facility – refer to the table in Appendix 1

2 – Events

  • Organised competitions, celebrations, festivals and events in the ForestrySA Forest and Native Forest Reserves require an Event Application and are assessed and approved case-by-case.
  • Booking a facility does not automatically approve an event. Events must be lodged at least four (4) weeks in advance.

3 – Access, Vehicles and Parking

  • Vehicles must be kept to designated vehicle tracks/roads and parked only in designated areas.
  • Do not obstruct gates, roads or access points.
  • Visitors must obey all posted speed limits and road signage on ForestrySA roads. Where no speed limit is signposted, drivers are required to travel at a safe speed suitable for road conditions and shared use with forestry operations, emergency vehicles, other visitors and wildlife. Some sites are walk-in only with no vehicle access – refer to the table in Appendix 1
  • Vehicle limits apply for all campsites and cabins. Refer to ForestrySA website for information.
  • All vehicles on site must have registration numbers listed and be paid for (where applicable).

4 – Respect for Other Visitors

  • Noise must be kept to a minimum to respect other forest users.
  • No parties: in the interest of quiet enjoyment, a no-party policy applies to bookings and campground visitors. Refer to section 2 regarding Events.
  • Please consider other forest users and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.

5 – Cleanliness, Damage and Site Care

  • All rubbish must be removed and facilities/sites left in a satisfactory, clean and tidy state.
  • Fees may be charged for any damage, missing items, or additional cleaning required.

6 – Prohibited Equipment and Activities

  • Chainsaws, reciprocating saws and other power saws are prohibited.
  • Generator use varies by site and requires written Ranger approval – refer to the table in Appendix 1

7 – Fire, Cooking and Fire Danger Restrictions

  • Entry to all Forest Reserves is prohibited on declared Total Fire Ban (TFB) days. Fire restrictions apply and may change during Fire Danger Season or under CFS advice.
  • No fires of any type (wood, coal, fuel or gas appliances) may be used from 1 December to 31 March.
  • Gas appliances are permitted from 1 April – 31 November.
  • Wood and charcoal fires are permitted from 1 May – 31 October, unless Fire Danger Season is extended by the CFS. These restrictions include the use of combustion heaters within accommodation sites. Wood fires are only allowed in designated fire pits or fireplaces and must be attended at all times and fully extinguished before departure.
  • Fire pits must be cleared of flammable material for a distance ≥ 4 metres.
  • Fines apply for non-compliance

8 – Firewood and Timber

  • We do not supply firewood; we ask that all forest visitors wishing to use a fire pit within our campgrounds or picnic areas please bring their own firewood.
  • Collection of firewood from the forest is prohibited. Under the Forestry Act 1950 and associated Regulations, it is an offence to remove any vegetation, live or dead, from ForestrySA land

9 – Smoking and Vaping

  • Smoking and vaping is prohibited inside any facilities including accommodation, huts, toilet facilities or any other shelter. Some sites also prohibit smoking in public-use areas such as car parks, please obey all signage and respect other users.

10 – Dogs and Animals

  • Dog access varies by site. Some sites do not permit dogs – refer to the table in Appendix 1
  • Where dogs are permitted, they must be kept on a lead (No longer than 3 metres).
  • Please be aware of feral animal control programs operating in some areas. Please take note of signage.
  • Horse riding in campgrounds is not-permitted. Horses must be led at walking pace.
  • No other animals are permitted in campsite, huts or accommodation without prior approval.
  • Animal waste is to be removed from campgrounds.

11 – Safety, Liability and Closures

  • Visitors are responsible for their own safety, wellbeing and belongings. ForestrySA is not liable for loss or damage to personal property or vehicles.
  • Forests are active working forests and closures may occur with little warning. Always adhere to signage and follow instructions from ForestrySA staff and contractors.   • To report a fire or emergency, call 000.
  • For fire ban information, visit the CFS website (https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/)or call the Fire Ban Hotline (1800 362 361).

12 – Refunds and Cancellations

  • Cancellation of campsites with full refund is available with ≥7 days’ notice.
  • Cancellation of accommodation and huts with refund is available with ≥14 days’ notice but will incur a $20 (AUD) cancellation fee.
  • Campsite rescheduling can be made once per booking number if requested with ≥7 days’ notice.
  • Campsite refunds are not available for cancellations that have been subject to a previous reschedule.
  • ForestrySA may cancel a booking at any stage. If a booking is cancelled due to a forest closure or an emergency, a refund may be permitted. If a booking is cancelled due to antisocial behaviour, breach of these Terms and Conditions, or any other reason a ForestrySA Ranger deems necessary, no refund will be provided.
  • ForestrySA is not responsible for weather conditions and refunds are not provided for inclement weather.

13 – Contact and after-hours support

  • For booking enquiries or issues, email recreation@forestrysa.com.au or call (08) 8391 8800 between 10am – 2pm Monday – Friday
  • For emergency and urgent, after-hours issues only, contact the Duty Ranger by calling (08) 8391 8800 and follow the prompt for Duty Ranger (where applicable). Duty Rangers are not available for minor enquiries or booking changes and will not assist with these requests.
  • For fire or immediate emergencies, call 000.

14 – Disclaimer

  • Information published on the ForestrySA website is accurate at the time of publishing but may change without notice. All reasonable efforts are made to ensure descriptions provide an accurate impression of the facilities offered; however, variations may occur.
