PEST ANIMAL CONTROL OPERATIONS, MOUNT CRAWFORD FOREST

Parts of Mount Crawford Forest Reserve and other surrounding public land areas will be closed to visitors from 17-30 June 2024, due to pest animal control operations in the area.

The operation is being coordinated by PIRSA with support from ForestrySA, the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board, Northern and Yorke Landscape Board, Green Adelaide, SA Water, Department for Environment and Water (National Parks and Wildlife Service) and private landholders.

The closure will impact all forest localities bounded by:

  • Pewsey Vale in the north
  • Big Flat and Goat Farm in the east
  • Old Kersbrook and Mount Gawler in the west
  • Bennetts and Haarsmas in the south

Numerous forest and regional trails will also be impacted by the closure, including the Heysen, Mawson and Kidman Trails.

Most ForestrySA campgrounds and hut accommodation venues will also be closed. Those who are booked to stay in the forest during the operation period will be contacted individually.

For your own safety please keep out, follow all site signage and obey instructions from staff.

*Please note that these operations will not be conducted on the weekends of 22- 23 June and 29-30 June, allowing regular forest access during this time.
