Events and group activities

Organising an event or group activity?

Our event season runs from 1 April – 30 November annually.

Many events are hosted in our forests each year including festivals, rogaining and orienteering competitions, horse endurance races, mountain bike races, sled dog races, commercial filming and photography, trail running events, military training, scout jamborees, outdoor education courses, school camps, and so much more.

Events such as these require organisers to submit an Event Application or activity registration form for approval by our Ranger team.

By registering your event or activity with us, we can make sure your visit is a safe and enjoyable one. Plus, our Rangers can give you tips on the best spots to visit and double check your plans will not be impacted by harvesting operations or other forest events.

Event advertising and promotion must not occur before approval has been provided by ForestrySA.

Please note: Applications for events between 1 December and 31 March are generally not accepted due to the fire danger season. Only bike-related events at Fox Creek Bike Park will be considered during this time.

Fees

Fees apply to events and some forest activities. Our recreational fees allow us the opportunity to recoup some administration, on-ground support and maintenance costs, and continue to provide well-maintained visitor facilities.

We review our recreational fees on 1 July each year. Click here to view our fee structure.
