Camping and picnic fires
1 December – 31 March: All fires are prohibited. This includes wood, gas and any solid fuels (eg Charcoal) in any receptacle including smokers, hibachi grills and camp stoves. These dates may be extended in areas where high fire danger persists.
1 April – 30 November: Gas BBQs and fuel stoves (eg Butane) permitted.
14 MAY – 31 October: Comfort and cooking fires permitted, including wood and charcoal. (Please note, Fire Ban has been extended from 1 May to 14 May as per CFS directive. More details here: https://ow.ly/WbaY50VCaVg)
IMPORTANT INFO
- Comfort and cooking fires are permitted within designated fire pits only. All camp and picnic sites have a firepit.
- Fire is prohibited in all other areas of ForestrySA land.
- Bookings are required to use a firepit in a campsite area. View and book campsites here
- Bookings are not required to use fire pits at designated picnic sites. View picnic areas here
- We do not supply firewood; we ask that all forest visitors wishing to use a fire pit within our campgrounds or picnic areas please bring their own firewood.
- Collection of firewood from the forest is prohibited. Under the Forestry Act 1950 and associated Regulations, it is an offence to remove any vegetation, live or dead, from ForestrySA land.
- Fires must not be left unattended. All fires must be fully extinguished before departure.
The forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days. To report a fire, call 000.
